Background

Vishal Gupta, MD MPH is a cardiologist at Ascension Borgess Heart Institute. Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree in 1997 from Bangalore University and completed his residency in internal medicine in 2003 from Michigan State University-Kalamazoo Center. He then completed a cardiology fellowship in 2006 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Gupta also completed two fellowships from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School: Interventional Cardiology in 2007 and Vascular Diagnostic and Intervention in 2008.

Before moving to Borgess, he was a faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Physician/Inventor/Dad

Over the course of his career, Dr. Gupta has treated thousands of patients with Coronary Artery and Structural Heart Disease. He has been involved in the development of several medical devices, and his physician’s perspective of patient safety and procedural practicality ultimately led to the conception of Anchor Balloon. Dr. Gupta has since garnered the interest of several large-scale medical device companies all over the world.

Dr. Gupta lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan with his wife and two daughters. In addition to the Anchor Balloon project, he is a practicing cardiologist at Ascension Borgess Heart Institute, a researcher, a public speaker, and an avid traveler.
